        Photographer's Bio

Tanya Carriker strives to use her eyes and camera to capture the world for everyone to enjoy. She also aims to use different perspectives to show common subjects in a new light.

Having lived in Oregon since she was 6 months old, she grew up with the beauty of the Oregon landscapes. She uses it as a setting for most of her photography, because, in her opinion, it is the best place to live. Her love for photography is deepened by special bond with her father, who has encouraged and supported her from the beginning.

Being self-taught, Tanya is always seeking to learn new aspects of photography. She is currently working on a project entitled 365 Days of Photography, whose purpose is reflected by its name. Tanya’s main focus is macro and animal photography.

        Tanya's upcoming showings:

The month of February 2012, at a The Coffee Cat Coffee House, 107 S College St, Newberg, Oregon 97132.

        Photographer's Statement

I gravitate toward macro photography because it allows me to see beyond what the naked eye can and capture it for others to see.  I feel nature is the best subject for photography because nature changes every day.  It provides an ever-changing array of subjects that will be completely different or gone in a year’s time.

Personally, I know my photographs are a success when I am happy with the finished project, regardless of awards or recognition.  I do photography for myself, and if that ever changes, I feel my art would suffer.  I hope someday to blend my love of photography with a cause in need, to help make a difference.

I have used 35mm SLR cameras and digital SLR cameras.  Most of my work has been with Canon brand cameras.
